USA Visa Requirements for Ghanaian Passport Holders
Ghanaian passport holders require a B1/B2 Non-Immigrant Visa to visit the United States. There is no visa-free access, visa-on-arrival, or e-visa option. Every Ghanaian national must apply in advance and attend an in-person interview at the US Embassy in Accra.
The B1 (Business) visa covers business meetings, conferences, and negotiations. The B2 (Tourist) visa covers tourism, visiting family, medical treatment, and social events. Most applicants receive a combined B1/B2 visa. The visa can be valid for up to 10 years (multiple entry), but each visit is typically limited to 6 months.
DC INTERNATIONAL BTTS has been preparing Ghanaians for US visa interviews since 2009. Our Accra consultants conduct mock interviews, review your DS-160 for accuracy, and ensure your supporting documents tell a compelling story of strong ties to Ghana.
Important: US visa approval is discretionary. There is no guaranteed approval — even with perfect documents. The consular officer must be convinced you will return to Ghana after your visit. This is why preparation matters.

US Visa Interview Tips for Ghanaians
Be Concise
Answer directly. The interview lasts 2–5 minutes. Rambling or over-explaining can hurt your case.
Be Honest
Every answer must match your DS-160 form. Inconsistencies are the fastest route to refusal.
Be Confident
Maintain eye contact, speak clearly, and stay calm. Nervousness can be mistaken for deception.
Know Your Documents
Be ready to explain any large transactions, gaps in employment, or unusual travel patterns.
Emphasise Ties to Ghana
Your strongest argument is that you have compelling reasons to return to Ghana after your US visit.
Show Financial Capacity
Be prepared to explain how you will fund your trip without working in the USA.

No compelling reason to return
Our fix: If you are young, single, and unemployed, strengthen your application with family ties, educational enrolment, or business ownership.
